What will you learn in applied AI training?
SchoolRegistry Academy’s Applied AI Builder course is a ten-week online programme for career changers in Nigeria who already use AI tools and want to build with them. First, students learn what a language model is and is not, prompts as versioned products with instructions, examples, output formats and refusal rules, and grounding an assistant in a knowledge base so it answers from documents rather than inventing. Second, students practise evaluation: ground-truth sets across ten question types, samples drawn by type, regression runs before any change ships, tool connections with read, draft and write permissions, a human approval switch on anything touching money, health, law or admission, and usage and cost monitoring, inside a fictional twelve-person AI studio with nine client accounts and a Lagos desk. Third, graded practice tasks, a two-week practicum and a portfolio of three assistants with their evaluation reports, a post-mortem and a refusal memo create evidence of applied judgment. The course trains the applied builder seat and states plainly that it does not make a graduate an AI engineer. It names no vendor credential and does not promise employment, income or placement.

Applied AI is new enough that the vendor certificates on offer change faster than they can become recognised, and several are marketing rather than assessment. We will not point you at an exam outline we have not checked against the live version, and we will not imply that our certificate is a vendor credential.
What the course gives you instead is evidence: three assistants you built, their evaluation reports, a post-mortem on a real failure and a memo recording an automation you refused to build. In a field without a settled credential, that portfolio is what a hiring conversation is actually about.
The Academy certificate proves the work was assessed here. If a vendor outline becomes worth following, we will name it and its fee on this page.

Do I need to know how to code?+
No. This is the builder's seat, not the engineer's, and the course is explicit about the difference. You write prompts, build knowledge bases, design evaluation sets, connect tools through a panel and watch the numbers. When a connection needs real engineering the course shows you handing it to the engineer, because knowing where your seat ends is part of the job.
Does this make me an AI engineer?+
No, and the course says so directly rather than letting you find out at an interview. An AI engineer needs a software track: coding, system design and model deployment. This course trains the applied builder seat, and it tells you plainly not to claim a title you do not hold. That honesty is the point of the last week.
Is there a certificate or exam at the end?+
The Academy certificate proves the work you did here, and week eight includes a timed practice exam written by the Academy with a readout by outline area. We do not name or claim any vendor credential on this page, because we will not point you at an exam outline we have not checked against the live version. If that changes we will say which one and what it costs.
Will the tools I learn still exist in a year?+
Some will not, and the course is built around that. What transfers is the discipline: grounding an answer, evaluating against ground truth, running a regression before shipping, putting a person in front of a consequential action, and watching cost. Those outlive any particular model or vendor, which is why no tool is taught as a product.
Is this only for remote work abroad?+
No. Two lanes run through the course. The Lagos lane builds for a school, a family clinic and a payment support desk, on WhatsApp and sheets, with Nigerian customers and phrasing and the NDPA named where personal data is touched. The US lane is studio and in-house work for people who already hold work authorisation.
When does the cohort begin?+
October 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM WAT (Nigeria). Each track has one live class a week; the day is confirmed in your enrollment information.
Is a job guaranteed?+
No. The Academy develops and assesses skills. Employment depends on your performance, employer requirements, and available roles.
