Important Education Calendar(Nigeria): Next 90 Days brings the main decision points into one place for parents, students, school owners, and search users. Use the sections below to compare options, verify details, and move into SchoolRegistry records, tools, and related guides.
WAEC Dates
WAEC runs the May/June WASSCE for school candidates and a second series for private candidates later in the year. The timetable is published ahead of each session, usually reaching schools before it circulates online, and practical and oral papers are the ones most often adjusted after publication. Results follow the final paper by roughly six weeks to three months, and WAEC announces the release rather than scheduling it in advance, so a specific date circulating before then is a rumour.
JAMB Dates
JAMB's year runs registration, then a mock for those who opt in, then the UTME itself, which has fallen in April in recent years, then results within days of each sitting, then cut-off marks, then admissions through CAPS. Registration windows are announced and do close, and the late rush is where candidates lose places on avoidable problems. Direct entry runs on its own window alongside the main one.
Scholarship Deadlines
Scholarship deadlines in Nigeria are poorly advertised and frequently short, and the federal and state schemes rarely run to the same calendar twice. The practical approach is to check the funding body's own channel rather than waiting for an announcement to reach you, and to prepare the documents most schemes ask for, results, admission letter, identification and a bank account in the student's name, before a window opens rather than during it.
Admission Windows
After UTME results come post-UTME screening at each institution, then admission offers through CAPS, then acceptance fees, then clearance and registration. Each step has its own deadline set by the institution rather than nationally, and missing an acceptance deadline can cost a place that was already offered. Check the institution's own portal rather than relying on being told.
School Resumption
Most Nigerian schools run three terms from September to July, with breaks around Christmas and Easter, but the exact dates are set by state ministries and by individual schools and they do not all match. Private schools frequently resume earlier than public ones in the same state. Confirm with the school rather than with a national calendar, particularly for a first term.
