Work with us
We are Academic Support Services NG Ltd, the company behind schoolregistry.ng, where Nigerian parents compare schools, and SchoolRegistry Academy, where people train for remote work. We are small, we build things that are used, and we would rather hire one person properly than five in a hurry.
Open roles
Call Desk Agent and Administrative Assistant
Lagos · Remote, Nigerian hours · Full time
We are building a small call desk in Lagos. It makes and takes calls for businesses that need someone reliable on the phone: introducing a service, setting appointments, following up, and keeping records that can be checked afterwards. Our first project is calling schools across Nigeria about their profiles on SchoolRegistry.
We are hiring the first agent. You will not be one voice in a room of sixty. You will help set how this desk works, and the person who does this job well will be the one training the next people we hire.
What you will do
Calling is most of the job, and it is not a script you read at people.
- Make outbound calls from a prepared list, usually thirty to sixty conversations on a full day, and record what happened on every one of them.
- Set appointments and callbacks, and keep them. A callback you promised and did not make costs us more than a call you never made.
- Follow up by email and WhatsApp using our templates, sent from the system so it is logged, never from your own phone or personal address.
- Build and clean lists: check a number is right, find the person who actually makes the decision, remove what is wrong or duplicated.
- Handle the administrative side around the calling: updating records, checking data against what the customer told you, preparing a short daily summary, keeping the shared inbox tidy, and the other office tasks that come with running a small desk.
How we work, and what is not negotiable
- Every call opens with the recording notice. No exceptions, not even for a quick one.
- If someone says do not call again, that is final and it is honoured the moment they say it, for good.
- You record what actually happened on a call. A disposition that does not match the recording is the one thing that ends this job, because the whole service depends on the record being true.
- You never invent an answer. Saying you will find out and calling back is always the right move.
What we are looking for
- Clear, confident spoken English, and the patience to be pleasant on the tenth call of the morning that went nowhere.
- Comfortable being told no. Most calls end in no and it means nothing about you.
- Careful with records. If you like things written down properly, you will do well here.
- Comfortable with a spreadsheet and a shared inbox. You do not need to be technical.
- A quiet room to work in, a laptop, a headset, internet you can rely on, and an arrangement for power that keeps you working through an outage. We will talk through your setup honestly at interview rather than assume.
Previous call centre, customer service or sales experience is useful and not required. A graduate of the SchoolRegistry Academy Lead Generation, Customer Service or Virtual Assistant tracks is very welcome to apply.
The offer
- Weekdays, nine to five Lagos time. Not a night shift, and no US hours.
- Remote, on a contract with Academic Support Services NG Ltd.
- Two weeks of training on the script, the systems and the product before you take a real call, and the first fifty calls are listened to with you so you get coached rather than marked.
- Pay is discussed at interview. We will tell you the figure before you are asked to decide anything.
How to apply
Send to career@schoolregistry.ng with the subject line Call Desk Agent:
- 1.Your CV, one page.
- 2.A voice note of about two minutes. Read this out as if you were on a call, then answer the question at the end in your own words.“Good morning, my name is [your name] and I am calling from SchoolRegistry. This call is recorded. I am calling about your school’s profile on our website, where parents look for schools in your area. Do you have two minutes?”Then answer: a school principal says “who gave you my number?” What do you say?
We listen to the voice note first, before the CV. Clarity and calm matter more here than a perfect accent.
How we will assess you
- The voice note: can we follow you easily, do you sound like a person rather than a recording.
- A short call: we ring you unannounced during working hours to hear how you answer the phone.
- A live exercise: you make three real calls with us listening, then tell us what you would do differently.
- Records: we give you five call notes and ask you to spot the two that do not match what was said.
Nothing here for you yet?
Send your CV to career@schoolregistry.ng anyway, with a line about the kind of work you want. We keep them and we do read them when a role opens.
We never charge anyone to apply, to interview, or to start. If someone asks you for money in our name, it is not us.
