SchoolRegistry NG

Transparency & Standards

Our Methodology

How SchoolRegistry NG compiles, structures and maintains Nigerian school records: the four separate data sources, what Government Listed, Verified and Unclaimed mean, and how corrections and reviews are handled.

Common questions

Where does SchoolRegistry data come from?
Four separate sources, kept separate on purpose: public records, submissions from the schools themselves, our own editorial research, and corrections sent in by users. A profile shows which of those a given detail came from.
Does appearing on SchoolRegistry mean the school is endorsed?
No. A listing is a record, not a recommendation. Most records exist because the school is registered, not because anyone has assessed it.
What does the verified badge actually mean?
That someone who represents the school has confirmed the profile and we have checked they are connected to it. It is a statement about who controls the profile, not a judgement on the quality of the school.
How do I correct something that is wrong?
Use the data correction route on the site. We check a reported correction against its source before changing a record, which is slower than editing on request but keeps the register usable.
How are reviews moderated?
Reviews that identify a child, that make allegations we cannot verify, or that appear to come from the school itself are removed. Removal is about verifiability, not about whether the review is favourable.

Research partner: SchoolRegistry NG is part of the same research group as PollsAfrica. For how its surveys are sampled and weighted, see PollsAfrica's published research methods. The two sites keep separate data and editorial teams, and neither ranks or promotes the other's records.
