Free Virtual Medical Administrative Support training scholarship in Nigeria
Run a US clinic's front desk remotely. This self-paced career track is worth ₦325,000 at regular prices and is free for scholars. You start any day, there are no live classes, you get coach feedback online, and you keep access for 12 months.
You will not be asked to pay anything at any point, including for course materials, practice exams or certificates.
What you will learn
A ten-week specialist track for remote medical administrative work: patient messages and scheduling, insurance eligibility, prior authorization packets, referrals and records requests, claim status calls and payment routing. Every lesson follows the clinic's job aid, every patient is fictional, and the privacy discipline is graded with zero tolerance.
- Two-identifier verification and third-party authority
- Minimum necessary and approved channels
- Patient inbox triage: urgency, scope, tone
- Scheduling from a provider template
- Eligibility verification on a payer call
- Prior authorization packets and tracking
- Referrals and records requests with authorisation checks
- NorthChart with role-based access and audit trail
- Claim status calls and the biller handoff
- Privacy decisions and incident escalation
Eight weeks at a glance
- Week 1: Academy Foundation and the healthcare primer. Remote work with a US client, written and spoken communication, US time zones from Nigeria, workstation readiness; then the mandatory primer: the words of US healthcare, two identifiers before any disclosure, minimum necessary, approved channels.
- Week 2: Remote medical front desk and patient communication. Role and boundaries, two-identifier verification, third-party authority as a separate gate, reading a patient inbox for urgency, scope and tone.
- Week 3: Scheduling and conflict resolution. What the remote scheduler controls, reading a provider template without interpreting clinical rules, verification before any change, rebuilding a provider's day after a sick call.
- Week 4: Insurance eligibility and benefits verification. What eligibility verification is and is not, the eight fields on the form, minimum necessary on a payer call, reading payer responses.
- Week 5: Prior authorization administration. What prior authorization is and is not, reading the payer's requirements without guessing, the clinic-approved document set, assembling a clean packet, the five-item tracker.
- Week 6: Referrals, records requests and NorthChart. Referral basics, authorisation checks before any release, NorthChart navigation with role-based access and the audit trail, closing the loop with the specialist.
- Week 7: Privacy decisions, escalation, claims and balances. Privacy decisions at the remote front desk, what to escalate and how fast, the misdirected message; then claim status calls, the handoff note to the biller, and the balance conversations you may and may not have.
- Week 8: Integrated fictional clinic work simulation. The Northgate workday: scope, sequence and the seven privacy gates; routing clinical messages and the angry caller; scheduling conflicts; the full day, end to end.
- Week 9: Practicum, part one. Three timed shifts on NorthChart: a Monday morning, records, payers and a fax gone wrong, the afternoon queue; then a live role play with a peer.
- Week 10: Practicum, part two. A downtime drill, a full morning, the capstone shift, a live role play with a tutor and the final assessment. Passing needs zero critical errors on the seven privacy gates.
Who this track suits
- You can follow a rule exactly, every time, even when a caller is upset and pushing you to make an exception.
- You are calm on the phone, clear in writing, and comfortable telling someone that a question is for the nurse or the doctor, not for you.
- You can keep what you see in a patient record to yourself, completely, and treat every record as sensitive by default.
- You want a specialist remote skill with its own vocabulary, systems and rules, and you are willing to learn them properly over ten weeks.

Questions people ask
Do I need a medical background?
No. The mandatory healthcare primer teaches the words of US healthcare and the privacy rules from the start. What you need is care, calm on the phone, and the discipline to follow a job aid exactly.
Will I be giving medical advice or reading clinical notes?
No, and the course is built around that boundary. Nothing clinical is decided by the assistant. Clinical questions route to the nurse or the doctor; the course teaches exactly how to say so and how to document it.
What is NorthChart?
A fictional clinic system built by the Academy for training: scheduling, records, eligibility, referrals and records requests, with real role-based access and an audit trail. It resets, so mistakes are safe and the consequences are still real.
Why is this track priced differently?
It is a specialist track: a healthcare primer on top of the Academy foundation, eight specialist weeks, and a two-week practicum on a purpose-built clinic system with tutor role plays. The fee covers the whole ten weeks, in full or in two installments.
Is the Virtual Medical Administrative Support scholarship really free?
You will not be asked to pay anything at any point, including for course materials, practice exams or certificates.
What do I have to do in return?
Complete the first module of your track, Week 1, within six weeks of being accepted to keep your place. Then share your certificate and leave a short review.
