Free typing speed test with a certificate

Every 5 characters count as one word. Gross WPM is the number of words you typed in a minute. Net WPM takes away 1 word per minute for every wrong word left in the text. Accuracy is the share of your key presses that were the right key, so a mistake you fix with Backspace still counts against it.

Many admin and data entry jobs ask for 30 to 40 words per minute. Most office jobs are happy with 40 to 60. Over 60 is fast. Accuracy matters as much as speed, because a fast typist who makes many mistakes creates extra work for everyone.

The test is free and you do not need an account. We do not keep what you type, and we do not keep your name. Your certificate link carries your name, scores and date, signed so that nobody can change them.

Take a 2 or 3 minute test, then enter your full name on the results screen. You can download the certificate as a PDF or an image and share the link on WhatsApp. One minute tests do not get a certificate.

The certificate has a verify link. When someone opens it, our server checks the signature built into the link. If the name, scores or date have been changed, the check says Not valid. If they match what we issued, it says Valid and shows the details.

No. It shows the result of a practice typing test on SchoolRegistry Academy. It is not an exam, and it is not accredited by any outside body. It is a simple way to show what you scored on the day.

You can, but the test is made for a laptop or desktop keyboard. Phone keyboards are slower, and swipe typing does not work here. Your phone score will usually be lower than your keyboard score.

We switch off pasting and automatic typing. If a test shows input that does not look like a person typing, or a speed no person can reach by hand, we do not count it. Try again and type every key yourself.
