Free Recruiting and HR Coordinator training scholarship in Nigeria

Run a clean hiring process from requisition to offer. This self-paced career track is worth ₦260,000 at regular prices and is free for scholars. You start any day, there are no live classes, you get coach feedback online, and you keep access for 12 months.

You will not be asked to pay anything at any point, including for course materials, practice exams or certificates.

What you will learn

A ten-week certificate course in recruiting coordination and HR administration: the intake brief, sourcing and screening against it, the structured phone screen, panel scheduling across time zones, the offer packet, background-check consent, onboarding paperwork and the employee file. Taught in two lanes with two fictional employers, Keystone Talent for the US desk and Adaora Foods for the Nigerian desk, so every rule is taught for the country it applies to.

  • The intake brief and the requisition
  • Sourcing and screening against must-haves
  • The structured phone screen and its summary
  • Candidate messages: confirm, update, decline, offer
  • Panel scheduling across US time zones
  • The weekly pipeline update
  • Offer packets, consent forms and reference checks
  • Onboarding paperwork, US and Nigeria
  • The employee file and the HRIS
  • Protected characteristics and the questions never asked

Eight weeks at a glance

  1. Week 1: What a recruiting coordinator actually does. Who decides what; the requisition and the intake brief; the funnel and its four numbers; the applicant tracking system; protected characteristics and the questions you never ask; consent and identity documents; the ten written lines; HR work in Nigeria and CIPM.
  2. Week 2: Sourcing and screening against the brief. Job boards, referrals and the ATS database; writing a job post; pay transparency and salary-history bans; Boolean search; must-haves and knockouts; the ninety-second CV read; the knockout email; sourcing in Nigeria; NYSC and entry-level hiring.
  3. Week 3: The phone screen and the candidate messages. What a coordinator's screen is for; the structured screen; asking about availability and pay without advising; the screen summary; confirmation, update, decline, offer; the silent and the angry candidate; escalating to the recruiter; screening in Nigeria; WhatsApp versus email.
  4. Week 4: Scheduling, the manager and the interview. Scheduling across US time zones; panel interviews; reschedules and no-shows; the intake meeting; the weekly pipeline update; feedback the same day; interview kits and scorecards; accommodation requests; interviews in Nigeria; the Labour Act basics you recognise.
  5. Week 5: Offers, checks and the paperwork clock. From decision to offer letter; the counter; background checks and written consent; reference checks; adverse findings; work authorisation and the I-9 a remote coordinator cannot examine; contractors versus employees; Nigerian offer letters and the onboarding file.
  6. Week 6: Onboarding, the employee file and HR administration. Day one, week one, month one; equipment and access; the 30-day check-in; the employee file and who may see it; changes and the paperwork trail; leave records; the HRIS; the handbook; complaints you receive and route; offboarding; HR records and payroll inputs in Nigeria.
  7. Week 7: Fair hiring, data and the requests you refuse. Equal opportunity every day; reasonable accommodation; the questions that must not be asked; recordkeeping; where data leaks; requests for information; a breach; being asked to post a fake role or skip consent; fraud signs; fair hiring and data protection in Nigeria.
  8. Week 8: Running the desk, and the capstone. A weekly rhythm for eight open roles; priorities; reporting up; the tools of the trade including AI screening tools and what the law asks of employers who use them; mock questions; the capstone; what "certified" means in HR; your profile in two lanes; the first thirty days on a real desk.
  9. Week 9: Practicum, part one. Timed shifts on both desks: Keystone's pipeline moves, Adaora Foods' managing director sends a referral, a scorecard goes missing, a candidate goes quiet after accepting, and the system of record must reflect the truth by the end of each shift.
  10. Week 10: Practicum, part two. More shifts including a request that must be refused with the script and the record, a complaint that must be routed and never discussed, an onboarding week with a missing document, and a tutor-marked capstone. Passing needs zero critical errors.

Who this track suits

  • You are organised to the point of keeping a calendar for other people, and a stalled role on a dashboard bothers you until you know why.
  • You can write a warm, specific message to a candidate you are declining, and send it the same day rather than letting them wait.
  • You can hold a line: the recruiter decides the shortlist, the manager decides the hire, the lawyer decides the contract question, and you keep the record straight.
  • You want a job that exists in Lagos as well as remotely for a US employer, and you are willing to learn the rules of both countries properly.

Questions people ask

Is this course for the US market or for Nigeria?

Both, and it says which is which in every lesson. The US lane trains you as a remote recruiting coordinator for a US employer or agency; the Nigerian lane trains you as an HR or recruitment officer in a Lagos company. Rules are taught for the country they apply to, never blended.

Do I need an HR degree or CIPM membership?

No. The course starts with who decides what and builds from there. Week 1 explains what CIPM is and what its membership and exams mean in Nigeria, and Week 8 explains SHRM and HRCI in the US, so you know what an Academy certificate is and is not.

Will I be making hiring decisions?

No. The hiring manager owns the decision, the recruiter runs the search, and the coordinator keeps the process honest and the paperwork right. The course is strict about the lines: you never decide an adverse finding, you never classify a worker as employee or contractor, and you never investigate a complaint.

Which systems will I practise on?

Greenhouse, Workable and Zoho Recruit for tracking applicants, BambooHR for employee records, LinkedIn Recruiter and Jobberman for sourcing, Calendly and Zoom for scheduling, plus Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Slack. Free tiers and trials throughout.

Is the Recruiting and HR Coordinator scholarship really free?

You will not be asked to pay anything at any point, including for course materials, practice exams or certificates.

What do I have to do in return?

Complete the first module of your track, Week 1, within six weeks of being accepted to keep your place. Then share your certificate and leave a short review.
