Boarding schools in Lagos: twenty-two options, from King's College to Atlantic Hall
Twenty-two secondary schools in and around Lagos take boarders. Six are boarding only, including Atlantic Hall, Holy Child and the state model colleges. The federal unity colleges and the old mission schools board on their original city campuses. The rest run day and boarding side by side, which for a mainland family looking at a Lekki school is usually the only workable arrangement.

How this list is ordered
Boarding-only schools come first, because boarding is the whole proposition there, with the government colleges ahead of the private ones. Day-and-boarding schools follow in order of how long they have been running. Position is not a judgement of teaching quality.

Fees. Boarding invoices have two parts: tuition and the boarding charge, and most published figures only show the first. 'Estimate' comes from the named third-party page linked beside the figure, some of them two or three years old. 'Not published' means no source we would cite prints one. Ask every boarding school for the boarding line as a separate item, plus feeding, bedding, medicals and the provisions list, before you compare.

Boarding only or day and boarding
Atlantic Hall, Corona Agbara, Day Waterman, Holy Child, FGC Ijanikin and the state model colleges take boarders only. The federal colleges in the city, the mission schools and most of the private schools take both, so a family can start on a day place and move to boarding in senior secondary. Ask whether boarders and day students are taught together, and whether boarders get supervised prep in the evening; that is where the boarding fee goes.
The government route
King's, Queen's and FGC Ijanikin admit through the National Common Entrance Examination with tuition free and a ₦100,000 term fee for boarding and levies. The Lagos State model colleges admit through the state placement examination at a subsidised fee. Between them they are the cheapest recognised boarding places in Lagos, and the hardest to get into.
What a boarding quote should include
Tuition, boarding, feeding, bedding and hostel kit, medical cover, laundry, weekend and exeat arrangements, and the provisions list the school expects you to buy each term. Ask for last year's full invoice for a boarder in the class your child is entering. A school that hands it over in writing is the school to compare the others against.
